'Airbnb is dying'
Not so fast. A thread blew up on Twitter last week prediciting the short term rental platform's demise due to exorbitant fees and prices, after a user posted a screen shot of a private Superhost chat complaining about recent occupancy rates going to zero. Factland jurors declared the dustup FALSE, citing as evidence the company's strong Q2 earnings report.
Other top claims this week questioned if Etherium is under US government control and whether Atmospheric Water Generators can solve the water crisis. See below for more details about the week's top verdicts and claims.
In other news, Factland co-founders Evan Hansen and Keith Axline joined @JournoDAO on Twitter Spaces for a deep dive into trustless decentralized fact checking, and explained how Web 3 might solve the misinformation crisis where traditional approaches have failed. In a one hour audio recording, they explain the product vision, discuss the case for gamification and random sample anonymous juries in deciding factual disputes, attitudes towards Web 3 in the journalism community, challenges of mainstreaming Web 3, and more.

Russia sabotaged the Nord Stream gas pipelines
1,650 $FACT staked
Last week, two leaks were detected in Nord Stream 1 and one leak detected in Nord Stream 2. Neither was in use shipping gas but they were pressurized with natural gas and saw pressure drop. Given the depth of the pipelines (~50m) and the complexity of such an attack many people presume a state actor was responsible. Both Russia and the US have been named as potential suspects.

New claims every week
Factland offers a new approach to misinformation, using Web 3 technology to create a trustless, decentralized fact checking layer for the Internet. Anyone can upload a claim, place a stake on whether it is true or false and submit evidence to support their opinion. If a claim is disputed, a random sample anonymous jury is assembled to review the facts, and issue a verdict and rewards to participants.
